Bespoke brilliant - unique custom pendants designed for impact at JCU EIP
At James Cook University’s Engineering and Innovation Place, Digilin collaborated closely with the project team to design and manufacture custom lighting solutions that reflect the project’s visionary aspirations. Digilin’s feature pendants, developed through precise engineering and production, serve as a central design element.
These unique fixtures feature three sides of homogenous glowing panels with downlights recessed into their bases, creating an inviting and innovative lighting effect. Each pendant is equipped with tuneable white output, controlled via DALI DT8 using integral drivers, providing flexible lighting tailored to different atmospheres within the space.
Beyond the feature pendants, Digilin contributed extensively to the ambient lighting throughout the complex, deploying a variety of linear systems and downlight ranges to maintain consistent illumination across the building. This carefully integrated lighting approach supports the architect’s broader vision—a facility where students and professionals can come together to celebrate, collaborate, innovate, and learn. The lighting design plays a crucial role in establishing this atmosphere, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal to set a new standard for tropical, sustainable building design.
