Kingsford Smith Drive is a major roadway, linking the Brisbane Central Business District (CBD) to the Airport, Port of Brisbane, Northshore Hamilton and TradeCoast area. The Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade involves road widening from four to six lanes plus the inclusion of pedestrian and cycle paths plus public spaces.
Over 500 Digilin RGB Taipans were installed into the railings along the 1.2km riverwalk, to provide a colour mixing point source illuminator, viewable by all using the river and on the opposite bank. The Taipan required some custom mountings including a threaded head for locking into the fabricated railings along the foreshore.
Constructed from marine grade 316 stainless steel, and factory sealed to IP68 in our Brisbane facility, the Taipan has been in production since the early 2000s. Over this period, the Taipan has been deployed on hundreds of projects in Australia and internationally due to its sturdy construction and reliable performance. The RGB Taipans are driven by Digilin’s new generation RDM/DMX constant current drivers.
Digilin thank the team at Design Stage for selecting the Taipan, and congratulates LendLease for the successful installation of these systems. It is certainly exciting for Digilin to have our engineering and production capabilities on display so close to home.
The IP68 rated fixtures were recessed into the base of the railings at regular intervals along the 1.2km riverwalk.
