The Centre for Sleep Research at the University of South Australia is dedicated to broadening our understanding of sleep health, fatigue & human performance. Inside the facility, research participants may live isolated from the rest of the world under controlled environmental circumstances for weeks at a time.
The facility’s external structure is a brilliant example of the results that can be achieved when lighting technologies are thoughtfully integrated into built materials. Compact linear systems fit with high output 4000K LED were surface mounted between the cladding panels. The illuminated edges of the system allow for a broader viewing angle compared to a shallow recessed mount. Digilin’s Shield 65 coating has been applied to the linear systems to ensure consistent and reliable performance, even in its exposed position.
An exceptional design by MPH Architects and a great execution by Harrold & Kite.
